How old were you when you started playing?

When did you realize that you would become a professional?

I was doing pro gigs while I was at school from 15 and just carried on until now. I'm still waiting to get a proper job.

Who were your musical influences?

The Beatles, I always wanted to be John. Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Elvis, Buddy Holly, so many.

How did you get your first professional gig?

I honestly can't remember how but I remember turning up for a session at Abbey Road, my mum took me, I was two hours early and was so nervous I threw up in the toilet. (sorry, too much information) Oh I was playing banjo (sorry).

Do you play any other instruments?

Banjo (no just kidding) guitar and piano.

What do you do in your spare time?

I have a motorcycle. (I think that says enough)

What drives you?

I love playing. I love making music. I love learning from whomever I'm playing with. So I guess the fact that every tune/song/band or studio date takes you further along the road and you never know where that will take you.

What are your future goals; where do you see yourself in five years?

Right now I'm very focused on the GL Band, very exited about all the possibilities. I hope to be playing with this band for the foreseeable future.

What is one thing about you that would really surprise our readers?

I am in fact Batman. There is something but I'm not telling.

Do you have a "most memorable moment" with the GL band so far?

There are so many already. But I remember the first time we played "Fanfare for the Common Man" (which was really the first thing we played) and thinking this is a really important moment, it was rocking man, I just couldn't stop smiling.

What about this experience has surprised you the most?

The fact that the 5 of us seem to be going in the same direction at the same time, musically.

What do you like best about working with Greg Lake?

Greg is an amazing guy to be around, he has a way of knowing what works best. Has a great ear for the smallest detail, which always makes the biggest difference. Also fantastic taste in wine.

What is your impression of the music industry today?

Hmm, that's a tough one. Boy bands, girl bands, guitar bands, keyboard bands, pop idols blah blah. It changes and evolves all the time, just like life, some times you hate it but some one else will be loving it. Enjoy the ride, lets see what happens. The good stuff is out there, just got to look harder for it.

What can be done to improve the industry?

Have more places for live bands and singers to play and learn and be heard.

Are you writing any new material?

I am, we are, right now.

If you could have one "musical wish," what would it be?

Be able to play in The Beatles.

What musicians, alive or deceased, would be in your "ultimate band?"

John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon and Me. I'm smiling at the thought of the after show party. To be completely honest I'm playing in the band I want to be playing in. To look around on stage into the eyes of your mates and know there feeling the same is really quite something, that'll do it for me baby.

Do you ever get stage fright? If so, how do you overcome it?

When I was younger I did. But I don't now, I just love to play; its what the rest of the day leads up to and I can't wait to get on there.

What would you most like to say to the fans?

To the fans I've met so far I'd like to say thank you for accepting and welcoming us, it means a great deal. For the fans I've yet to meet, come say hi. Or "come and see the show". Hmm, I'm sure I've heard that somewhere before.
